NexGenTM ADVANCED has all of the same properties and warranties as the NexGenTM product (above), but it also has an added fire inhibitor that upgrades the product from a Class B Fire Inhibitor to a Class A Fire Inhibitor, the same classification as concrete.
NexGenTM ADVANCED is most commonly used for the framing materials used in residential, commercial and industrial construction.
NexGenTM is the trade name given to the most advanced wood protection system available on the market. Using proprietary technology developed by a leading US Chemist, NexGenTM is an environmentally friendly product that is sprayed onto lumber. Once applied, NexGenTM comes with a Covered Structure Lifetime Warranty to prevent mould, mildew, rot, fungus and insect infestation, including all termites. This warranty is transferable an unlimited number of times for 50 years.
Due to the advancements made in our proprietary technology, namely the successful addition of a robust UV blocking agent, we now are able to provide a 30 Year Exterior Use Warranty for any outdoor applications, including siding/cladding, shakes and shingles, decking and fencing materials, and more.
Further, our product either comes in a clear coat, or it can be custom tinted to any colour, and works on any species of wood, and on any wood product (OSB, plywood, EWP’s, glu-lams, etc.).
There are no VOC’s added to the wood, there is no off-gassing, and no leaching.
After the wood has been coated with our product, it can be painted or stained without any damage to the protection and without any effect on the warranty. In fact, NexGenTM works great as a primer.
The keys to the success of the product are:
1. The ability to control moisture loss/absorption; and
2. The ability to lock borates into the wood.
By locking in the moisture content, you don’t find the kind of damage (checking, warping, cupping, etc.) you typically find with untreated wood that is stored in a lumberyard. Thus builders are getting up to 25% more usable wood per bundle, an incredible cost savings.
You also don’t have the issue with shrinkage after construction that you typically have with untreated wood.
Unlike pressure treated lumber, any waste material is discarded with the untreated wood waste.
What exactly are borates? Borates are naturally occurring salts that have been used for many years to protect wood. Borates work very well in protecting wood. The problem has always been, however, that even if the borates are pressure-treated into the wood, if the wood gets wet after treatment, the borates would leach out, eliminating the protection.
TLG Specialties LLC found a way to lock the borates into the wood. That discovery changed everything.
Not only are the borates locked into the wood, but because they love to follow water, they migrate throughout the entire piece of wood, right to the core. Not even pressure treating can do that.
We have tested everything from the softest woods to the hardest, from Southern Yellow and Radiata Pine to Eucalyptus and Teak, and NexGenTM protects them all.
